RPD says two men detained in connection to Hanover Ave shooting

UPDATE 12:31 P.M. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke police have released more details in the investigation surrounding a shooting that occurred on Hanover Avenue NW on Feb. 22.

RPD says around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, information was received that a person was shot on the 2400 block of Hanover Avenue NW. On the scene, officers found two female victims outside of a home suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Roanoke FireEMS took both women to the hospital for treatment.

LPD says suspect arrested, identifies victim in Locust Street shooting

Investigators say that two male suspects are currently being detained in connection to the incident. It is believed that a verbal altercation allegedly escalated into the shooting.

Police say that all the individuals involved know each other and it appears this was an isolated incident.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – There is currently a heavy police presence on Hanover Ave. as Roanoke City Police investigate an incident at a residence in the area.

Details surrounding the incident are currently unknown; however, 25th Street and Hannover Street NW are closed until further notice.

RPD’s Forensic Unit is on the scene and people are being asked to avoid the area.
