Heavy rain leads to flooding, road closures across South Louisiana
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Heavy rain on Wednesday, Jan. 24, led to street flooding and road closures in some areas of South Louisiana.
Officials with St. Tammany Parish reported street flooding across the area and are advising residents to stay off the roads if possible.
Jefferson Parish asks East Bank residents to conserve water following water main break
In St. Tammany Parish, officials said the following roads have been impacted by flooding:
Louisiana 25
Louisiana 40
Isabel Swamp Road
Louisiana 21 in Bush
Cours Carson Street
Louisiana 59 and 7th
Louisiana 435 and Allan Road
Allan Road to Tarpon Springs in Abita
Louisiana 21 to Louisiana 1084
U.S. 190 in Covington
In Terrebonne Parish, the Louisiana State Police reported the following road closures:
Louisiana Highway 20 northbound at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 648 and Duplantis street
The City of New Orleans is allowing neutral ground parking until 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, in anticipation of possible flooding in the caused by heavy rain. New Orleans residents can also track reports of flooded streets through NOLA Ready.
Heavy rain impacted the Ponchatoula area.
Flooding was also reported in Thibodaux.
