Weather alert: South Florida under flood warning, and police say to avoid these areas

Rain drenched South Florida on Monday and inundated streets in the region.

But there’s more: The downpour worsened an already exasperating rush-hour commute.

On Monday evening, the National Weather Service in Miami issued a flash flood warning for northern Miami-Dade and a flood advisory for Broward and Miami-Dade.

Miami police also warned the flooding could exacerbate heavy traffic in many parts of town, including:

Northwest 5th Avenue and 22nd Street in Wynwood

Northwest 7th Avenue and 25th Street in Allapattah

Northwest 10th Avenue and 21st Street in Allapattah

Northwest 10th Avenue and 25th Street in Allapattah

Northwest 11th Avenue and 14th Street in the Miami Health District

Northwest 12th Avenue and 14th Street in the Miami Health District

Northwest 12th Avenue and 28th Street in Allapattah

Biscayne Boulevard to Bayshore

Northwest 22nd Avenue and 28th to 36th streets in Allapattah

Northwest 36th Street, 2nd to 4th avenues and 8th to 10th avenues in Wynwood and Allapattah

North Federal Highway and 50th to 52nd streets south of Little Haiti

Most of Overtown
