Weather alert: South Florida under flood warning, and police say to avoid these areas
Rain drenched South Florida on Monday and inundated streets in the region.
But there’s more: The downpour worsened an already exasperating rush-hour commute.
On Monday evening, the National Weather Service in Miami issued a flash flood warning for northern Miami-Dade and a flood advisory for Broward and Miami-Dade.

Miami police also warned the flooding could exacerbate heavy traffic in many parts of town, including:
▪ Northwest 5th Avenue and 22nd Street in Wynwood
▪ Northwest 7th Avenue and 25th Street in Allapattah
▪ Northwest 10th Avenue and 21st Street in Allapattah
▪ Northwest 10th Avenue and 25th Street in Allapattah
▪ Northwest 11th Avenue and 14th Street in the Miami Health District
▪ Northwest 12th Avenue and 14th Street in the Miami Health District
▪ Northwest 12th Avenue and 28th Street in Allapattah
▪ Biscayne Boulevard to Bayshore
▪ Northwest 22nd Avenue and 28th to 36th streets in Allapattah
▪ Northwest 36th Street, 2nd to 4th avenues and 8th to 10th avenues in Wynwood and Allapattah
▪ North Federal Highway and 50th to 52nd streets south of Little Haiti
▪ Most of Overtown
