Heavy Snow Coats Buffalo Area as Storm Sweeps In

Lake-effect snow accumulating to several feet was seen in Erie County, New York, on November 17-18, with a National Weather Service storm watch in effect until Sunday.

Heavy lake-effect snow was falling at a rate of two to three inches per hour off Lake Erie on Thursday night, the NWS said, making for “extremely difficult travel” for the Buffalo metro area east to Batavia, and Oswego County off Lake Ontario.

Gov Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for parts of New York, describing the storm as “dangerous” and “life-threatening”.
