Heavy Snow Creates Dangerous Driving Conditions in Southern California Mountains

Heavy snow covered the San Gabriel Mountains in California on Monday, December 28, while strong winds and heavy rain hit the San Gabriel Valley, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The Mt Baldy Fire Department warned of dangerous driving conditions in addition to heavy traffic as motorists evacuated the mountain, leaving dozens stranded, according to local news reports.

Footage shared by the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station shows snow blowing near Crystal Lake in the San Gabriel Mountains. “If you are heading up the mountain, please have chains and check road conditions,” the sheriff’s station wrote in a caption.
