Dec. 29—Thunderstorms could bring heavy wind and rain to Cobb County today.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather warning for dozens of counties in north and central Georgia, which could see "gusty to damaging winds, a brief tornado, periods of heavy rain, and occasional cloud-to-ground lightning."
Cobb County will be spared the worst, having been placed "near a slight risk zone for severe storms," the county government tweeted Wednesday.
Afternoon showers are most likely before 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Nighttime showers are likely, and the county may experience a thunderstorm after 10 p.m., with a tenth and quarter of an inch of rainfall expected.
Cobb residents should expect rain over the next several days, with showers or thunderstorms possible through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
