Heidi Klum addresses her and husband Tom Kaulitz’s 16-year age gap after fan criticism

Heidi Klum has addressed the 16-year age gap between her and her husband, Tokio Motel rocker Tom Kaulitz, during an Instagram Q&A.

The German supermodel, 50, first met Kaulitz, 33, in 2018 and went public a month later as a couple at the Cannes amfAR Gala in May of that year.

After eight months together, the couple announced they were engaged before tying the knot privately in February 2019.

Now, Klum has got candid about their age difference after one of her 11.3 million social media followers asked during the live stream on August 20, “Don’t you feel that you’re in the age of Tom’s mom or age doesn’t really matter?”

Responding to remark, she insisted: “I honestly only feel that way when people point it out to me”.

It’s not the first time Klum has addressed their age gap, having previously told InStyle how her social media followers were the only ones to make her self-conscious about it.

Klum told the outlet in 2018 prior to their engagement: “Lately, I’m being reminded more about my age by people other than myself.

“My boyfriend is many years younger than me, and lots of people are questioning that and asking about it. That’s really the only time when age seems to be shoved in my face and I have to give an answer for it.”

The America’s Got Talent star added: “I don’t really think about it that much otherwise. You have to just live a happy life without worrying too much about what people think because worrying is only going to give you more wrinkles.”

While Klum and Kaulitz have been happily married for four years, she was previously married to Ric Pipino from 1997 to 2002 and musician Seal from 2005 to 2014.

The former Project Runway presenter shares three children with Seal: Henry, 17, Johan, 16, and Lou, 13.

She also welcomed her eldest daughter, Leni, 19, with former partner Flavio Briatore. Leni was later adopted by the British singer, 60.

Meanwhile, Kaulitz was married to Ria Sommerfeld from 2015 to 2018.
