BRANDON, FL — High-quality meats and prime cut choices are just a short distance away for Brandon and Riverview residents since Heights Meat Market has recently expanded from its Seminole Heights location to Valrico.
Co-owners Doug Coogle, Nicole Reed and Ray Reed opened the Heights Meat Market Valrico location on Sept. 4 after Coogle said much of the community rallied around them and showed tremendous support.
"We have actually opened two locations, Land 'O Lakes and Brandon, since the pandemic started in March, and we could not be more appreciative," Coogle told Patch.
Heights Meat Market offers seafood, certified Angus beef selections and exotic meat choices such as elk, venison, gator, kangaroo, frog and others.
Coogle said one of the most popular meat products they offer is Snake River Farms American Wagyu Beef.
The business' original location in Seminole Heights opened in 2018.
Coogle said he was a chief financial officer for a Tampa-based smoked meat manufacturer before becoming a meat entrepreneur.
"I later purchased a small meat manufacturing and meat distribution company in south Georgia," Coogle said. "My experiences with both of those companies lead me to the concept of Heights Meat Market. My goal is to connect my contacts in the industry to a Tampa-based specialty meat market."
The company's focus is to provide the highest quality and hard to find meat selections that you just can’t find anywhere else.
The company said it is following Centers for Disease Control guidelines at the store location to keep its customers and staff members safe during the coronavirus pandemic.
"We require masks to be worn by our staff, as well as our customers and vendors," Coogle said. "We also sanitize any common use areas every hour."
In addition to offering a variety of prime meats, a selection of sauces and rubs is offered at their newest location. Swamp Boys BBQ from Winter Haven and Lane's BBQ from Georgia are a couple of the many sauces available.
Heights Meat Market, 1019 E. Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m, and on Sundays from 10 to 3 p.m.
