‘Heist 88’ Exclusive Preview: Courtney B. Vance Wants To Test The Limits In Clip With Nican Robinson

Courtney B. Vance is ready to put America to the test in this exclusive clip from the upcoming Showtime movie Heist 88.
In the clip below, called “The System Needs to be Tested,” Jeremy Horne (Vance) is convincing one of his bank employee recruits, Rich Windom (Nican Robinson), to let go of his stockbroker dreams and get what is rightfully his. As Jeremy tells him, the system will keep him waiting until he takes what’s his.
Heist 88 director Menhaj Huda has given Shadow and Act an exclusive statement about the upcoming film and the exclusive scene, saying how he has always loved the thrill of a good crime film.
“Crime thrillers have always been my favorite genre since I can remember, and I’ve been looking for a project like HEIST 88 since I moved to the US from London,” he said. “So to get the opportunity to direct this movie was like a dream come true. It had so many elements that attracted me to the project: it’s inspired by true events from 1988, it has an anti-hero as the lead (played by the incredible Courtney B. Vance), it’s a thriller set in the visually stunning city of Chicago and it has a subtle social message framing the story.”
“The script was in very good shape when I first read it, and found that the material really connected with me, so it was a joy to bring it to life with such a terrific cast and crew,” he continued. “This scene between Rick and Jeremy Horne, is one of my favorites – both Courtney and Nican give incredible performances which nail the power dynamics between these two and we start to see Rick’s realization (and discomfort at) that there may not be a way out for him… “
Heist 88 also stars Keith David, Xavier Clyde, Precious Way and Keesha Sharp. The film is written by Dwayne Johnson-Cochran and executive produced by Johnson Cochran, Vance and Angela Bassett (via Vance-Bassett Productions), Floris Bauer and Lynnette Ramirez. Gunpowder & Sky also produces with MTV Entertainment Studios.
Heist 88 will stream on Paramount+ with Showtime Sept. 29 with a network premiere on Oct. 1 on Showtime.
