Helicopter Crew Battles Fire in Bogota Hills

A fire in the eastern hills near Bogota, the capital of Colombia, broke out on Monday, January 22, amid high temperatures.

The fire, which began on Monday morning in the Chapinero district, wasn’t controlled overnight despite the efforts combined teams, local news reported.

Bogota’s Mayor Carlos F Galan said that about 21 firefighters were working in the area with other crews expected to join by Tuesday morning.

Galan told local media that the cause of the fire hadn’t been yet determined.
