You can help a Biloxi mom land the cover of Inked Magazine. Here’s how.

A Biloxi woman is in the running for a cover on Inked Magazine, and she could use some love from South Mississippi to get her there.

Tia Camry Dickerson has sailed through three group stage rounds of the popular tattoo magazine’s annual contest. Each group started with about 50 contestants and the winner in the group stage will move on to compete against other top contestants.

Now in the top 10 for her group, Dickerson is vying for top 5 this week. As of Monday, she was in first place for her group.

Gulfport also has a stake in the contest. Resident Kristie Lynn McCready is leading in her group and seeking help to stay in the competition.

In addition to a professional photo shoot, cover of a national magazine and a tattoo from a celebrated artist, the grand prize includes $25,000.

“$25,000 would be life changing,” Dickerson told the Sun Herald. “You could do a lot with $25,000 if you haven’t had anything your whole life.”

Dickerson’s wish list includes a down payment for a house and a safe, reliable car for her and her daughter.

“Even though throughout life I have been dealt a bad hand, I still push forward,” she said. “All of us will get knocked down at some point in our lives, but I have always gotten right back up. I do what I can to make sure that my daughter, Rosalie, is able to have the life that I’ve always wanted for her.”

Dickerson has nearly a dozen tattoos, all of them done by South Mississippi tattoo artists. If she wins the Inked cover, she can add one more to the list.

“My favorite tattoo is the one I have dedicated to my 3-year-old daughter on my forearm,” said the single mom. “I look forward to touching it up one day so that the elements really pop out and show the beauty of what my daughter means to me.”

One of the prizes is an exclusive tattoo session with Ryan Ashley, eighth season champion of “Ink Master,” season 14 judge of “Ink Master” and star of “Ink Master: Angels.”

“That would be really great,” she said. “I’d probably let her do any tattoo she wanted.”

Voting for the top 5 in Dickerson’s heat ends Thursday, March 9, at 9 p.m. The magazine allows you one free vote every 24 hours and options to purchase additional votes. Visit Inked Magazine to vote for Dickerson.
