Help give a child a Christmas in Licking County in 2021

The Advocate has partnered with the Salvation Army in Newark to highlight some families in need this holiday season.

The ten families below have been screened by the Salvation Army. If you are interested in helping, please contact the Salvation Army to adopt a family by calling 740-345-8120 or emailing kaitlyn.haddix@use.salvationarmy.org. The organization is also accepting families willing to participate in their holiday program and is seeking people to work holiday kettles across the community.

  • Single mom working hard to provide for her two kids. Mom is alone and has no support to provide for her kids and wants to make sure that they have a great Christmas this year.

  • Mom and dad working hard to care for their young son with special needs. Working to provide for his medical needs and paying for schooling has made it hard to provide for Christmas this year coming out of Covid.

  • This single father is a veteran and not able to work. He has reached out to us to provide help for his two children to ensure that they still have a blessed Christmas.

  • Grandparents living on a restricted income trying to provide for their two young grandchildren.

  • Single mom raising a daughter with a serious medical condition and working hard to provide for her needs and be able to visit her when she is in the hospital.

  • Single mom working to raise her 3 kids all alone. She has been trying to provide for them without any help and has reached out to make sure she can at least give them a great Christmas this year.

  • Mom has been diagnosed with cancer and the family is trying hard to still have a great Christmas this year for their daughter despite a hard and sad situation. They want her to have a happy and blessed season.

  • This family of four is struggling financially due to the father being unable to work due to a recent medical crisis. While he is recovering mom is working to provide for their two kids. They reached out for help to provide for their kids this Christmas.

  • This family is currently living with their friends while they are looking for a new home. They reached out for help to provide for their daughter this Christmas because even though they are struggling with being homeless they wanted to make sure Santa still visits wherever they are.

  • This single mom of two just moved into her own place and they are starting over. They reached out for help because she wanted to make sure that their first Christmas alone was a great one and that her kids new Santa would not forget them.
