Here is how you can help this Husky who was shot in Fresno
FRESNO, Calif. (KGPE/KSEE) – A Husky who was shot on Wednesday in Fresno is now in recovery and the CCSPCA is asking the public for a name for the dog, a foster home, and donations towards the Husky’s medical expenses as he is in recovery.
Police say at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday they responded to Lafayette and Dayton Avenues after receiving a shot spotter notification and two calls from two different people claiming a man lit off a firework at a dog. The suspect is on the run and Fresno police are continuing to look for the man.
Detectives say the suspect is believed to be a black male in his mid-twenties wearing a black coat, black beanie blue jeans, and black backpack
Upon arrival, responding officers reported finding a dog with bloody fur limping in the front yard of a home. They also found a single shell casing from a gunshot in front of a different home nearby.
PD: Suspect sought after Husky shot, wounded in Fresno
Veterinarians at 24/7 PetVet confirmed Wednesday evening that the dog suffered from a through-and-through bullet wound and ultimately had its hind leg amputated. The Husky is currently on the road to recovery.
As the Husky has been at the CCSPCA, the staff says they have been calling him “husky dog.” However, they are now seeking a different name to call him. Name suggestions are now being accepted for the brave pup and can be sent to the CCSPCA at media@ccspca.com.
As the CCSPCA is currently taking care of the Husky, officials say they are looking for a foster family as they are seeking someone who can give him a warm and loving environment to recuperate. Once the dog fully recovers he is set to go up for adoption at CCSPCA. Interested parties are asked to call (559) 233-7722 x 116 or contact the CCSPCA at foster@ccspca.com.
The medical costs are still being totaled for the Husky, but the CCSPCA anticipates the bill will be approximately $8,000. Donations are being accepted and can be made towards the Husky in recovery here.
