Can you help identify these remains and bodies found in Bucks and Montgomery counties?

UPDATE: The remains of Edward Nece of Riverside in Burlington County New Jersey were identified in October 2023, 20 years after his remains were found in Bensalem. On Jan. 30, 2023 the Bucks County District Attorney's Office confirmed a human skull found in 1986 the banks of the Delaware River in Morrisville as Richard Thomas Alt, 31, who was last seen in Trenton on Christmas Eve 1984. This leave six unidentified body cases in Bucks County.

The remains of at least 11 still unidentified bodies have been found in Bucks and Montgomery counties over the last 48 years, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs). Here is a look at those open cases.

Man found in Delaware River in Bridgeton

Aug. 25, 2021: The naked body of a light-skinned man estimated between 40-and 60-years-old was found floating in the Delaware River near a boat dock. The body was missing its head. It was found wedged against an anchored dock in the 1800 block of Trails Lane. There was no observed intentional trauma to the body.  It is estimated that the body may have been in the river for approximately one to two weeks prior to its discovery. The victim was also missing one of his kidneys and he had a tattoo of what appeared to be an arrow on  left forearm.

Human bone found on island in Delaware

Aug. 1, 2020: An unidentified human bone was found on Resolution Island by a mother with her daughter who were tubing in the Delaware River between Tinicum and Frenchtown, New Jersey. The private, 11-acre island is owned by a Delaware River tubing company and is considered the halfway point along its route. The mother took the bone home and tried to identify it. Upon thinking it may be human she called the police who picked it up and transported it to the Bucks County Forensic Facility. A search of the island did not locate additional bones, authorities said. The bone was sent to the University of North Texas for DNA examination. If DNA can be recovered it will be submitted to the missing person’s data base and CODIS..

Man found in Falls

October 19, 2013: The skeletal remains of a male between ages 50 and 80 and 6-feet 1-inch tall, was found at an unidentified location in Falls Township. The man died of a self-inflicted gunshot to the neck.  A blue steel Smith and Wesson self-loading .22 caliber pistol was found near the body. Also found was a men’s black trifold wallet with a black elastic hair tie inside, a $10 bill, an Avocet Altimeter 50, which is a device used to record altitude, a men’s gold-tone wristwatch with a black face and no band.  Authorities also found a black MP4 music player and a small clear plastic pill case with one moldy green pill inside.  A pair of non-prescription eyeglasses were found near the body and he was wearing a a pair of men’s size 13 blue and white Adidas sneakers. The man was wearing a baseball cap with the letter “Z,” cargo-style shorts with a drawstring, pull over sweater, tank top and underwear. The body was found underneath a green blanket.

Drowning victim in Bensalem

Oct. 19, 2003: The body of a while man between 30 and 40 years old, 5-feet, 11-inches tall, about 230 pounds was found floating in the Delaware River off State Road near the Pennsylvania Yacht Club. The suspected cause of death was drowning.  The victim was wearing a short sleeved gray George brand T-shirt size 2X.  (Identified 2023)

Skeletal remains in Falls Township

May 16, 1993: The skeletal remains of a man estimated between 34 to 39 years old was found in the area of Route 1 South near the Stoney Hill Road overpass. The remains were found in a drainage ditch a short distance from the roadway. The remains were described as  5-feet-6 to 5-feet-7 inches tall and possibly of South Asian or Hispanic descent.  Partial remains of a pair of Levi’s blue jeans and two socks were found near the remains. Authorities also found a gold and diamond stud earring.  Authorities estimated he died between 1988 and 1992.

Nov. 27, 1997: The body of a Black male, approximately 6-feet, 1-inch tall about 225 pounds was found on the banks of the Neshaminy Creek.  The man was wearing a green Tommy Hilfiger size-XL shirt and green Tommy Hilfiger slacks, belt size 32 and “Ellesse” XL sneakers.

Woman's remains found in Bensalem

August 16, 1995: The torso of a white female estimated to be 40 to 53 years old was found in the Poquessing Creek near the Philadelphia border.  The woman had been dead an estimated four weeks.  She was missing her head and at least one hand. She was estimated at 5-feet, 5-inches tall. A 12 inch stake had been driven into her rectum.

June 15, 1986: A human skull was found along the banks of the Delaware River. The victim is believed to be white but the gender is unknown and the victim was estimated to be under age 70. (Identified 2023)

Skeletal remains in Lower Moreland 

March 15, 2009: The skeletal remains of a man estimated to be 35 to 60, believed to be 5-feet, 6-inches tall and 140 pounds was found on the edge of the former Island Green Golf Course. He was wearing no shirt or coat. He had on a pair of brown pants size 32 x 30 with a "US Polo Association" label, Hanes jockey underwear and a pair of black Dexter shoes in size 11 and black socks, Authorities estimated he had been dead about 18 months.  DNA testing found the victim had strong Mediterranean, southeastern Europe and northwest Middle East ethnic origins. He had gray or partially gray hair. His teeth were straight and well cared for with several silver fillings. He had an orthopedic condition that likely left him in constant pain and made him walk with a limp or hunched over. Toxicology tests found trace amounts of methamphetamine in his system; a pink or clear plastic packet was found inside the left nasal cavity.

Woman found partially buried in Lower Merion

Oct. 8, 1992: The body of a Black woman estimated between 25 to 40 years old was found partially buried in a wooded area south of the Schuylkill River near Bala Cynwyd. Authorities estimated that she died between 1989 and 1991. She was 5-feet, 1-inch tall and 120 pounds. Cause and manner of death remain undetermined.  She was wearing a bone-colored sleeveless blouse with a red leaf design, green and bone vertical striped shirt and a Bulova Caravelle quartz ladies watch with an oval face.

Woman found along road in Lower Providence

Feb. 9, 1974: The body of a white female approximately 60 to75-years old was found along an unidentified road.  Authorities estimated she had been dead for three months. She was 5-feet-2-inches tall and weighed about 170 pounds.  She had evidence of arthritis in her back and knees and new fractures to her left forearm. Her death was listed as a murder in newspaper stories.  She was found wearing a corset, bra, girdle, a housecoat with orange and light flower designs, she had safety pins in her right side pocket, stockings, a light-colored knit dress, purple hand-crocheted slippers inside plastic bags labeled "Marvel Enriched Bread"

On February 9, 1974 the remains of this unknown woman were found in Lower Providence Township. An investigation revealed she had been murdered about 3 months prior. Her identify remains unknown
