How you can help this Merced marching band go to Disneyland

FRESNO, Calif. (KGPE/KSEE) – A Merced marching band is asking for your help to take them to the happiest place on earth.

The Weaver Music Boosters from Merced are raising funds through a GoFundMe to send the Weaver Marching Band and Colorguard, to Disneyland on April 19th.

Organizers say the total cost of the trip for 85 students is close to $50,000. Students say they have sold cookie dough in the fall and have been selling World’s Finest Chocolate since mid-November. In addition to those fundraisers, organizers say the students will be selling Drive Thru Enchiladas (Feb 17th), hosting a dinner auction (March 9th), and more.

A goal of $5,000 for this GoFundMe, said organizers, are hoping to use the charitable contributions to rent a Box Truck (Penske) for the trip to haul equipment down to Anaheim and to pay for a buffet meal on the first day of the trip among other things needed for the trip.

The band hopes to march down the iconic parade route in the theme park and attend the Los Angeles Philharmonic Concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
