Stuff-a-Bus for our Mobile Food Pantry

Come out with your family and friends to help the Area 10 Agency On Aging Stuff-a-Bus for their Mobile Food Pantry on April 15. Their pantry serves hundreds of home-bound individuals in Monroe and Owen counties by delivering supplemental groceries to them each month. Volunteers are needed to help with collecting non-perishable donated food items at certain Kroger locations: North, South, East and West during 8-11 a.m. and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. shifts. They also need help with unloading and sorting the donated items at two of their pantry locations from 2:15-4 p.m. These locations are First United Church, 2420 E. Third St., Bloomington, and Area 10 Agency, 631 W. Edgewood Drive, Ellettsville. Many hands make light work, so visit https://tinyurl.com/april-stuff-a-bus to learn more and sign-up today. Earth Week creek cleanup

This Earth Week, spend time on April 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. giving back by helping clear debris along riparian corridors at Jackson Creek along the Jackson Creek Trail. Bloomington Parks and Recreation will provide trash bags and gloves; volunteers can bring enthusiasm and a love of nature, and together will help keep our waterways litter free. On-site training is provided. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have an Underage Waiver of Liability signed by a parent or guardian. Boys & Girls Clubs' Camp Rock spring cleanup

Volunteers are needed to help the Boys & Girls Clubs' clean up Camp Rock at Lake Lemon on April 22, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Volunteers will be doing leaf removal, mulching and landscape work outdoors to help prepare for summer campers. There will also be indoor cleaning opportunities to get the buildings prepped for classes. Community Kitchen Wish List

Community Kitchen is celebrating 40 years of service, providing meals to anyone in need since 1983. About 60% of their meals go to support at-risk youth. Wish list items are all things that will help directly or indirectly their staff and volunteers efficiently serve and support those struggling in our community.

Donation instructions: Food and financial donations can be dropped off at Community Kitchen’s main location (1515 S. Rogers St.), Monday–Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m., or Saturday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Featured Wishes: They have an ongoing need for canned fruit, and canned vegetables. They also need canned or pouch tuna, chicken or ham, peanut butter, meal helpers (like Hamburger/Chicken/Tuna helpers), fruit cups — applesauce, mixed fruit, pears, peaches, etc., instant oatmeal — individual portions, macaroni & cheese and more to support their Backpack Buddies Program.
