Volunteer to usher and see the show for free! This show is running now through Feb. 11 and is taking place at the Ted Jones Playhouse, located at 107 W. Ninth St. This commitment requires volunteers to be timely, well-dressed and courteous to the patrons. Ushers are required to arrive one hour prior to the start of a performance, wearing black bottoms and a white top. Duties will include — but are not limited to — directing patrons to their assigned seats, handing out programs, scanning tickets, assisting with accessible seating, and generally welcoming patrons and helping them enjoy their experience. Ushers are encouraged to attend the show they are working at no cost and may be asked to assist the box office attendant with post-show collection of donations and/or clean-up. Weed Wrangles — Bloomington Rail Trail

Meet Friends of Bloomington Rail Trail, working to remove invasive Asian bush honeysuckle, and restore native habitats for pollinators, birds and other wildlife! Volunteers will be bending, hiking and climbing as needed. Gloves, and tools are provided. Wear sturdy boots, long pants and long-sleeved shirts, and a hat. Age of volunteers: 12 years and older. (Volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.) Volunteers under the age of 18 must have an Underage Waiver of Liability signed by a parent or guardian. This opportunity meets every Friday 4-5:30 p.m. between now and Feb. 23. Volunteers will meet at the Country Club Road parking lot. Kitchen Assistants — 40 Days of Peace Opportunity

Are you looking to make a direct impact on the lives of the most vulnerable in your community? Would you like the satisfaction of leaving a 2-hour shift and seeing the difference you made in someone's life? Then this opportunity may be right for you. The Shalom Center day shelter provides free meals to people experiencing poverty in Bloomington, providing breakfast for around 60 people every morning and lunch for around 120 every afternoon. This vital and life-saving service is offered every day the Shalom Center is open, Monday through Friday. Several shifts are available, 7:30-9:30 a.m., 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.-2 p.m. Minimum age for these shifts is 14, or 10-13 with a parent/guardian present. Community Wish List Spotlight

Pantry 279 Wish List

Pantry 279, the Pantry with TLC was conceived, built, stocked, and run by the cadet Girl Scouts of Troop 69279. With the help of volunteers, the community, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellettsville Indiana, they currently feed upwards of 7,000 people a month, representing 34 counties (although mostly Monroe, Owen, and Greene), and the numbers continue to grow.

Donations: Donations can be made from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday at 3609 Ind. 46, Bloomington (in Smithpike Plaza between Urban Air and El Ranchero). Donation boxes are also located around the back if donations are made during off hours.
