Banneker Carnival

Brighten your midwinter week with an indoor carnival! Face painting, carnival games, colorful crafts, festive story time and snacks await you in the Banneker gym on March 1 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Volunteers 16 years and up are needed to assist with event setup, tear down, and carnival games and activities. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have an Underage Waiver of Liability signed by a parent or guardian and must bring it with them when they arrive for their shift. Ellettsville Club tutor volunteers | Inspire Learning

Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington is looking for a couple more tutoring volunteers at its Ellettsville location. Shift opportunities are available from 3 to 6 p.m. for approximately 2-4 hours per week. Duties include, planning lessons for daily tutoring sessions, keeping notes on areas of concern and mastered tasks, implementing assessments at the beginning and the end of the semester, keeping data records, utilizing rewards and consequences, communicating with other club members, tutors, parents, and staff effectively, and more. Volunteers must complete a background check, online training modules and tutor training. Due to the limited capacity of this opportunity for this spring, interested volunteers may request to be put on a waiting list for upcoming tutoring opportunities. People & Animal Learning Services (PALS)

PALS promotes joy, quality of life, better health and empowerment by providing therapeutic programs with horses. By providing a caring, safe, and challenging environment PALS fosters growth and individual achievement of all participants that will enable them to reach their highest potential. Volunteers are needed for several ongoing opportunities: horse leaders and lesson help, barn help, facility and grounds help, and board and committee members. Interested individuals can attend the upcoming People & Animals Learning Services Volunteer Orientation happening on March 2 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. This orientation is designed to inform interested volunteers about the opportunities that are available at PALS and how to get involved. Community Wish List Spotlight

Teachers Warehouse Wish List

Teachers Warehouse is a nonprofit that provides free school supplies to public school teachers from Monroe, Brown, Greene, Lawrence, and Owen counties. Teachers Warehouse serves the educational and creative needs of children by providing a unique means to transfer donated surplus merchandise from businesses and individuals for use in classrooms and schools.

Donation Hours School Year 2023-24:  Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., except holiday weekends. Donations can be delivered in person to 524 N. Fairview Ave. in Bloomington.
