SWANTON, Ohio -- Flag City Honor Flight, the Findlay-based hub of the National Honor Flight Network, will fly 87 Vietnam-era veterans and their guests to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday. Community members are welcome to attend the welcome home celebration that evening.

Past Honor Flights have included many Monroe County veterans.

This flight has been sponsored by Ohio Logistics, based in Findlay, Ohio. The company is sponsoring a flight for Vietnam-era only veterans. Veterans will visit war memorials built in their honor and memorials honoring all other wars.

The Hancock County Sheriff's Office, Wood County Sheriff's Office, Lucas County Sheriff's Office and Legion Riders escort veterans and guardians. While in Washington, D.C., veterans and guardians travel by bus to the World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and Air Force Memorials and observe the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

Community members are encouraged to attend, make signs and greet veterans as they arrive. Identification is required for anyone over age 18.

The hangar opens at 7 p.m. for supporters to gather. The welcome home celebration will begin around 9:30 p.m. at the Grand Aire hangar, 11777 W. Airport Service Rd. in Swanton, Ohio.
