Henderson issues first permits for new homes in 2023

The issuance of the first permits for construction of new homes in the city of Henderson in 2023 highlighted last month’s city and county building permits.

The city codes office issued permits for four new homes, including three to Hugh Stone & Sons Construction for housing starts in their Canoe Creek Subdivision off South Green Street. The firm has been the leading homebuilder in Henderson in recent years.

No permits for new houses were issued by the county codes office in March. The four issued by the city brings the total number of housing starts in Henderson and Henderson County during the first three months of the year to just seven, compared with eight during the same period in 2022.

No significant new commercial permits were issued last month. The biggest commercial-related projects were a $26,000 permit for a new sign at the Thornton’s convenience store at 1000 N. Green St. and a $12,600 permit for a new sign at the Thornton’s at 2000 U.S. 41 North.
