Henderson Rotary Club begins annual Community Grant Cycle for local organizations

HENDERSON, Ky. -- The Rotary Club of Henderson has announced plans to begin its annual Community Grant Cycle, which provides grants to non-profits and educational and governmental agencies in the Henderson County area.

Despite pandemic-related fundraising issues last year, the Rotary Club awarded more than $35,000 in community grants to 19 non-profits – a figure Rotary President Jennifer Andrews says is higher than in the past.

“Last year was a little higher because of the … need in the community, and so many organizations (had) a need,” said Andrews.

In past years, funds have been given to organizations like Healing Reins, the Volunteer and Information Center, The Boys and Girls Club and Henderson Christian Community Outreach. The Rotary Club has also used the money to sponsor Handy Fest and an art show for the Henderson Area Arts Alliance.

Rotary Trivia Night, one of the club’s primary sources for scholarships and charitable contributions, was cancelled last year and will be postponed this year.

“Our hope and our plan is to have it this year, but we are hoping to do it maybe in the late spring or early summer. … Since we know more about COVID now, maybe the summer months will be better for events like that,” said Andrews.

In addition to providing money to Henderson organizations, the Rotary Club also grants annual scholarships to students in the community. Applications for those will be available in late spring.

Non-profits interested in applying can request an application by sending an email to hendokyrotary@gmail.com. Application packets can be mailed to the Henderson Rotary Club of Henderson c/o Charitable Trust, P.O. Box 77, Henderson, KY, 42419-0077 or sent as a PDF to the same email.

The grant application deadline is February 21, 2022.
