Hendersonville-area restaurants that opened the 2nd half of 2023

HENDERSONVILLE - With 2023 quickly drawing to a close few weeks, it's a good time to take a look at local restaurants that opened in the past six months.

Previous Times-News reporting covered restaurant openings from January-June. Below we focus on Henderson County restaurants that opened the last part of the year, from July-December.

Feta Flav

A popular food truck that specializes in Greek food decided to expand into a permanent location at 2111 Asheville Highway, due to open by the end of the year.

Claywood

A ribbon cutting was held in mid-November by the Chamber of Commerce for this new wine and whiskey hangout, which plans on offering more selections of food to its menu soon.

It is located at 317 Seventh Ave. East and owned by Carly and Scott Buntin.

As for the menu, Carly Buntin said they are starting out simple and then adding more selections in the future, including more rare, exotic meats and different pairings.

Hustle Wing Co.

Horse Shoe chicken wing lovers got some tasty news in October when Jared Dotson announced he was opening a new chicken wing joint at 3754 Brevard Road.

Dotson posted on social media that there will be 24 varieties of sauces on the menu for his wings and that the Hustle Wing Company's website is in the works.

As far as the menu, he said the main thing will be, of course, his wings.

The Munch Box

Brevard's newest restaurant and bar is The Munch Box, which opened in late September.

It offers cannabis-infused cocktails, along with gourmet sandwiches. Shauna and Zachary Bradley own the restaurant, along with Abigail Delaney-Padilla, Hailey Henderson and Leah Rice.

There are several choices for customers for cannabis-infused mocktails at The Munch Box, but the food doesn't have cannabis, Bradley said.

"Our cannabis infusions will only be offered in our drinks, because we do still want have an open environment for those who don’t want to consume cannabis," she said.

The Main Event

Located at 125 S. Main St., The Main Event is a new venue that has a list of local vendors that reflects founder Brittany Bettini’s passion for elevating her hometown’s event scene, according to past Times-News reporting.

She has aimed to create an upscale event venue that embodies the essence of Hendersonville, she said. Bettini said that she hopes to provide a modern space for individual hosts of events like weddings as well as a space for the Hendersonville community to utilize.

Dunkin' Donuts, Spartanburg Highway

The popular doughnut chain Dunkin' Donuts opened its fourth location in Hendersonville at 845 Spartanburg Highway in August.

Other locations in Henderson County are 97 Terminal Drive in Fletcher, 754 Upward Road in Flat Rock and 2547 Chimney Rock Road in Hendersonville.

Tartans Sports Bar

The former site of Las Cazuelas Mexican & American Restaurant at 321 N. Main St. is now the site of Tartans Sports Bar, owned by Jamie Douglass and his business partner, Brent Chanin.

Douglass is originally from White Plains, New York, and Chanin is from Manhattan, so this new bar offers a taste of New York to downtown Hendersonville.
