Hendricks Regional Health president to lead Ascension St. Vincent

Big leadership changes are afoot at Ascension St. Vincent.

Jonathan Nalli, ministry market executive for Ascension St. Vincent and senior vice president of Ascension, will leave his role April 28, according to a Thursday news release. Nalli has been with Ascension St. Vincent since 2014.

Kevin Speer, current president and CEO of Hendricks Regional Health, will take over May 1 as senior vice president and ministry market executive for Ascension St. Vincent, the nonprofit healthcare system announced Monday.

Speer worked for Ascension St. Vincent as an associate from 2006 to 2012, when he left for Hendricks Regional Health. Previously, he worked with Ascension St. Vincent as general counsel and chief legal officer as part of a law firm. According to the release, he helped create new programs and facilities, including what's now known as the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. As the leader of Hendricks Regional Health, Speer oversaw the opening of the first hospital in Brownsburg in 2018 and a psychiatric hospital in Plainfield.

Under Speer's leadership, Hendricks Regional Health also joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network in 2022, giving Hoosiers more access to providers locally.

In his nine years with Ascension St. Vincent, Nalli oversaw a rebranding of the health institution, adding Ascension to the St. Vincent name, and a $325 million expansion on 86th Street with an updated women's hospital and a new neurosurgical hospital.

“Under Jonathan’s servant leadership, our Indiana ministry has grown in services and access while delivering industry-leading care in areas such as cardiovascular, women’s health, pediatrics, neurosciences, cancer care, orthopedics, bariatrics, trauma and employer-based healthcare solutions,” Tim P. Adams, senior vice president and regional operating officer for Ascension, said in the news release.

But it wasn't all expansion. Ascension St. Vincent has recently made headlines for the decision to close 11 primary care facilities around Indiana, mostly in rural areas now having trouble accessing care.
