Henry Ford Health issues open call for artwork

Michigan artists take note.

Henry Ford Health and the Anton Art Center are seeking artists to submit their work for the hospital system's permanent art collection, according to a news release.

The artwork that is chosen will be purchased and displayed in the newly constructed patient tower at Henry Ford Macomb hospital opening in spring 2023. This space will not just showcase the art but it will be a source of comfort for patients, family members, and staff to enjoy the beauty of art.

What kind of artwork is being chosen

This artwork is supposed to showcase the power of art in promoting health and wellness. It will also feature works from local artists that touch on themes like resilience, recovery, and hope.

"Art can collaborate with a space to uplift, inspire, and comfort its visitors," said Stephanie Hazzard, exhibition manager at the Anton Art Center in a written statement. "We are pleased to partner with Henry Ford Health to support the Healing Arts program and area artists connect to celebrate our local art community through the new art collection. This special opportunity offers artists the chance to be a part of a large collection where their work may contribute to a healing environment dedicated to care for all patients, staff, and visitors."

The committee is seeking a variety of genres, styles, aesthetics, concepts, materials, and concepts. Artwork completed within the last ten years or so is recommended.

Midsize artwork up to 48 inches is desired.

How to submit the artwork

Submissions are expected to be evaluated on their originality. creativity, and relevance to the theme of healing through art. The submissions are due Feb. 20, there is no fee to enter and artists can enter up to five works per person.

There is a guideline and entry form available on the Anton Art Center website.

Age requirement

At the moment the submissions are open to artists who are 18 and up, regardless of experience or background.
