Her cruise was canceled, so woman plays Reno slots instead — and breaks jackpot record

A woman became a multimillionaire after she decided to play slots when her cruise vacation was canceled, Reno casino officials said.

The longtime guest turned a “$10 bet into a Megabucks Jackpot of $14,005,833.17,” according to an April 3 Facebook post by the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.

The woman’s $14 million win marks the “biggest slot machine jackpot in Reno history,” casino officials said.

McClatchy News reached out to the casino on April 4 and is awaiting a response.

The lucky winner played the Megabucks Mega Vault for 40 minutes on April 2 before securing her win, according to 8 News Now.

The woman wasn’t supposed to be in Atlantis during the time, according to 2 News. Her cruise was canceled, so she extended her stay.

“We’re ecstatic for our longtime Atlantis patron and her incredible jackpot win,” said Cheraz Ecker, general manager of Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, according to 8 News Now.

Reno is about 450 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
