Oct. 17—GRAND FORKS — The seventh week of the college football season called for some movement at the top of the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

Here's a quick lap around the league.

1. South Dakota State: The Jacks won a third-straight Dakota Marker by scoring 16 unanswered points in the second half to beat North Dakota State 23-21 in Fargo. Jacks running back Isaiah Davis was shaken up for a bit but returned, while SDSU tight end Tucker Kraft, one of the FCS' best NFL prospects, went through warmups but didn't play.

2. North Dakota State: The Bison offense looked unbeatable in the first half, looking to go up 28-7 but a taunting call on quarterback Cam Miller followed by a Cole Payton interception started the NDSU demise.

3. Southern Illinois: Nic Baker had no problem dicing up Western Illinois, finishing 25-for-28 and Javon Williams Jr. had four rushing touchdowns.

4. North Dakota: The Fighting Hawks were on a bye.

5. Illinois State: Illinois State did just enough offensively to beat South Dakota 12-10. Zack Annexstad threw for 180 yards and Wenkers Wright ran for 53.

6. Youngstown State: The Penguins' defense wasn't great in a 48-42 win over Indiana State but the Youngstown State offense popped off. Mitch Davidson threw for 223 yards and running back Jaleel McLaughlin ran for 200 yards and two touchdowns.

7. Missouri State: The Bears had a bye week after a four-game slide.

8. Northern Iowa: Northern Iowa beat Utah Tech 41-14 thanks to 308 yards and three touchdowns from Theo Day. Sam Schnee had five catches for 143 yards and a touchdown.

9. South Dakota: Shomari Lawrence ran for 75 yards but Carson Camp threw for just 117 yards in a 12-10 loss to Illinois State.

10. Indiana State: Cade Chambers threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns and Dante Hendrix caught five passes for 117 yards for the Sycamores' D gave up 48 points to Youngstown State.

11. Western Illinois: The Leathernecks had 177 yards of total offense against Southern Illinois, including 33 on the ground.
