Academy Awards: Will 'Everything Everywhere' nab all the Oscars?

Can "Everything Everywhere All at Once" actually win everything on Oscar night? The acclaimed sci-fi comedy starring Michelle Yeoh heads into the 95th Academy Awards as a clear favorite to win best picture but also has a good chance to nab other top awards, including best actress, supporting actor, supporting actress, directing and original screenplay. Or maybe Tom Cruise has an ace up his sleeve and "Top Gun: Maverick" will take night's top prize. (Weirder things have happened.) Get the latest updates from the 2023 Oscars.

At least 8 dead after boats capsize off San Diego beach

At least eight people were dead and a search was underway for more victims Sunday after a suspected human smuggling operation ended in tragedy off a San Diego beach, authorities said. Authorities said a woman called 911 at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, saying she was on a boat that made it to the shore at Blacks Beach but another boat had capsized. San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesperson Mónica Muñoz said lifeguard teams found two overturned boats with debris and bodies scattered over 400 yards of beach and surf.

Daylight saving time is back again

This is your reminder that, like it or not, we did lose an hour of sleep Sunday. Since most of our devices automatically change the time for us, it's not as much of a chore as it used to be. But unless you have smart appliances, change those microwaves and ovens! More about the time change.

Treasury secretary: No bailout for Silicon Valley Bank

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Sunday ruled out a federal bailout for now-collapsed Silicon Valley Bank, but said that the government will step in to help depositors. “We’re not going to do that again,” Yellen said on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” referring to the 2007-2009 crisis that led to a massive government rescue of financial institutions. She declined to provide specifics on steps the government might take. Silicon Valley Bank, which has deep ties to technology startups and venture capital, collapsed Friday after a bank run stemming from the downturn of tech stocks and the Fed’s interest hikes.

Pence slams Trump over Jan. 6

Former Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday harshly criticized former President Donald Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. "His reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day, and I know history will hold Donald Trump accountable,” the former VP said during remarks at the annual Gridiron Dinner, a white-tie gathering of prominent politicians and journalists. The rift between the two men widens as they prepare to battle over the Republican nomination in next year's election.
