A blizzard in Southern California? A weekend of weird weather.

Blizzards in the mountains, rain in the desert, flooding near coastal cities – and reports of a dusting of snow near the Hollywood Sign. That's just some of the bizarre weather in California that occurred during a weekend storm system that kicked off in recent days. But more bad weather was on the way. A new storm was forecast to bring rain and snow as soon as Sunday night, the National Weather Service said. The snow won't sweep down to the edge of coastal cities as it did in recent days, but this week's forecast for Los Angeles does call for high temperatures in the low 50s – about 15 degrees below normal.

First at-home combination test for COVID and flu authorized by FDA

The Food and Drug Administration has authorized the first over-the-counter at-home test that can detect and differentiate between a test result for flu and a test result for COVID-19. The Lucira COVID-19 and Flu Home Test is a single-use test that can be purchased without a prescription. A nasal swab is used as with an at-home COVID test; in 30 minutes or less, the test displays the results – positive or negative for influenza A, influenza B and COVID-19.

Instant classic! Kings beat Clippers in NBA's second-highest scoring game ever

The Sacramento Kings and the Clippers are both in the thick of the race in the Western Conference and when they met up Friday night in Los Angeles, no one quite envisioned such a high-scoring affair. The result was a 176-175 double overtime victory for Sacramento, who are third in the Western Conference standings. The 351-point total was the second-highest in NBA history. Malik Monk scored a career-high 45 points, De'Aaron Fox had 42 points, 12 assists and five steals, while Kawhi Leonard scored 44 in a losing effort for Los Angeles. The Kings came back after trailing by 14 points in the fourth quarter and overcame six-point deficits in both overtimes.
