Here's when Corpus Christi staple Vick's Famous Hamburgers' Southside location will open

Vick's Famous Hamburgers — a Westside staple known for its made-to-order burgers — will open its third location in Corpus Christi's Southside Sunday, May 1.

It will be located at 6734 Saratoga Blvd.

Owner George Pollakis said it will be a soft launch, but he hopes to have a grand opening within a month.

"Our client base works on the Westside and lives on the Southside," Pollakis said. "There has always been a demand for a Vick's on the Southside, and that time finally came."

Vick's was started by Pollakis' parents in 1976 as a stand at Port Avenue and Leopard Street.

"We're part of the Corpus Christi community and proud of it," Pollakis said.

With the steady growth of businesses in the city's Southside, Pollakis said it was a natural progression to set up shop there.

"We got to keep up with the business and take care of our customers," Pollakis. "They're what keeps us going."
