Here's everything you need to know before going to the Defenders of Liberty Air Show

The Barksdale Defenders of Liberty Air Show is a full weekend spectacular featuring displays of the latest and historic military and civilian aircraft and related performances.

Entertainment

  • US Navy Blue Angels - Consisting of 154 world-class, active-duty Sailors and Marines, each one brings experience and expertise from their service in the fleet.

  • Red Bull Aviation - The Red Bull Air Force is a team assembled from the most accomplished and experience aviation experts on the planet. They specialize in highly coordinated aerial jump demonstrations and continually push the limits of human flight.

  • Rob Holland - Currently in his 18th year as a full-time airshow pilot, Holland has distinguished himself by blazing a trail of innovation, developing maneuvers never before seen at airshows with a goal to take aerobatics to the next level.

  • Kevin Coleman - Coushatta native Coleman is the youngest pilot Red Bull has fully sponsored and has been competing in aerobatics since he was 18.

  • Virtual Aircraft Tours - Starbase STEM Zone has created a series of virtual aircraft tours for this year's air show and igniting a passion for learning by reviewing these tours in place of their usual static displays.

  • F-22 Demo Team - This team performs precision aerial maneuvers at air shows across the world to demonstrate the unique capabilities of the F-22 Raptor.

Parking, Hours and Entry

  • There will be free admission and free, on-base parking for all attendees.

  • The gates will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26 with the show taking place from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. both days.

  • Patrons will enter through the West (Shreveport) and North (Bossier) gates and will be directed to the designated parking areas.

  • Guests are permitted to leave and re-enter, but traffic and security checkpoints could make it difficult.

Prohibited Items

  • Weapons - guns, knives, pepper spray, batons, fireworks, etc.

  • Large hand-carried items exceeding 1 cubic foot - tote bags, backpacks, coolers, etc.

  • Pets - dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, etc. Service dogs are allowed.

  • Sports equipment - roller skates, skateboards, bicycles, etc.

  • Outside food and drink - all food and drink including alcoholic beverages, glass bottles and illegal drugs.

  • Drones, laser pointers and balloons

  • Portable radios and Bluetooth speakers.

What Can You Bring?

  • Empty, refillable water bottles to use at the free water stations.

  • Strollers and wagons for small children.

  • Chairs, blankets and umbrellas for watching the air show.

  • Cameras, lenses, camera bags and equipment.

Other Important Information

  • Tailgating will not be allowed.

  • Portable restrooms will be located across the flight line.

  • Hearing protection is highly recommended, especially for children.

  • There will be concessions available for purchase as well as souvenirs.

  • There is reserved seating available for purchase at the Defenders of Liberty Air Show website.

  • If it rains, there will be weather-related notifications at the show and on the Barksdale Air Force Base Facebook and Instagram. Unless a cancellation announcement is made, expect the show to continue as aerial acts can still perform in low cloud conditions and there will be indoor activities.
