Here's Exactly Where "Cruel Summer" Was Filmed

By now, we know that Cruel Summer is not based on a true story (honestly, thank goodness), and the town the story is based in, Skylin, Texas, doesn't actually exist. Of course, that begs the question: where was Cruel Summer filmed?

Well, while the town isn't real, the show was, in fact, filmed in Texas. According to Texas Monthly, Cruel Summer was filmed in Dallas over six months. Both Texas Monthly and the Dallas Observer were impressed by the show's Texas-related references, like Kate Wallis' love for Whataburger. According to the Observer, Olivia Holt visited the chain "multiple times" while filming and the fast food restaurant's parking lot actually became a hangout for the cast.

In fact, the show even used some Dallas landmarks as settings. The bar run by Angela Prescott in the show is actually one of the oldest bars in the city, called One Nostalgia Tavern. Thanks to the memorabilia from the '80s and '90s that cover the walls, the bar was the perfect setting for the nostalgic Cruel Summer.
