Here's what you can expect when Terrain opens Doylestown location

The wait is almost over — Terrain’s grand opening in Doylestown is just weeks away.

The outdoor lifestyle garden center and café is set to open June 29 at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown Township.

Opening weekend festivities include live music in the Terrain outdoor nursery, live planting demonstrations by the talented Design by Terrain designers, and seasonal packaged food tastings.

Dave Ziel, chief development officer of URBN, a Philadelphia-based company, whose brands also include clothing retailer Urban Outfitters, said he looks forward to bringing the Terrain experience to the Doylestown community.

“It’s hard to not see people smile in a Terrain, that’s what makes it special,” he said.

The new Terrain is the result of a partnership deal between URBN and Delaware Valley University to transform the property at 2100 Lower State Road — formerly The Market at DelVal — and includes an internship program to provide students with opportunities in event planning, culinary, hospitality and agriculture.

“We will have students working at Terrain this summer, and another five students will be starting their paid internships with Terrain shortly, with three here at the Terrain at DelVal, and two at URBN headquarters at the Navy Yard,” Delaware Valley University President Dr. Ben Rusiloski said.

What is Terrain?

Terrain sells garden, home and outdoor lifestyle products, including native plants, planters, all-weather furniture, seasonal décor, outdoor lighting and artisan-made gifts.

The Doylestown store will feature a DelVal section of fresh goods produced on campus, showcasing the agricultural skills of the university’s students and programs.

Terrain also offers on-site dining at Terrain Café and hosts private events at Terrain Gardens.

The first Terrain store opened in 2008 in Glen Mills, and has since expanded to six more locations in Pennsylvania, California, Connecticut and Maryland.
