Summer is here and that means it's time for fireworks displays to commemorate Independence Day.
The day celebrates the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, and is usually celebrated with barbeque, beer, and fireworks shows.
Here's a list of shows in Evansville and surrounding areas for anyone looking to enjoy a dazzling night for the patriotic holiday.
Evansville
Fireworks on the Ohio
July 4, 6 p.m., firework displays start at 9:15 p.m., Riverside Drive. Free.
Evansville's largest public fireworks celebration is back from Court to Cherry streets with free face painting, inflatables, yard games and more. There will be free parking along the street and around the City of Evansville parking garages, and the parking lot behind the Civic Center.
Boonville, Indiana
Scales Lake fireworks
July 2, dusk, Scales Lake Park, 800 W. Tennyson Road. $5 per car.
This annual fireworks display is back at Scales Lakes Park. Attendees are not allowed to bring their own fireworks.
Mount Vernon, Indiana
Fireworks on the Mount Vernon Riverfront
July 1, 9 p.m., Mount Vernon riverfront, 110 E. Water St. Free.
Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and coolers to enjoy a beautiful fireworks display brought to you by the Mount Vernon Lions Club.
Princeton, Indiana
Freedom Festival 2023
July 4, 5 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. at the Gibson County Fairgrounds, 711 N Embree St. Free admission but $2 parking per car.
This event will feature a car show in downtown Princeton surrounding the courthouse square and several food trucks. Fireworks start at sunset.
Santa Claus, Indiana
Holiday World Holidays in the Sky
July 4th weekend, 452 E. Christmas Blvd. Admission into the park is $62. The light show is free with admission.
Holiday World hosts its daily "Holidays in the Sky" show that features 400 LED-lit drones and fireworks light show representing all the holidays, such as Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, the Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve with elaborate animated displays.
Henderson, Kentucky
Independence Day Fireworks Celebration
July 3, 5 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. at the Henderson Riverfront. Free.
This family-friendly celebration is back on the Henderson riverfront with food vendors, live music, children's entertainment and more.
