'Truly an Americana music experience'

The concert is a tribute to 1960s and 1970s classic rock, Americana and Motown music, said Jeff Perigo, of Boswell, who has been planning the event since last fall to help promote music education at the school.

“I understand there’s budgetary restrictions. I’m just trying to do my part, so they’ll have additional dollars for one student or more to be involved (in music),” he said.

“I’m hoping when we walk on stage that night, I hope to see every seat filled.”

‘Jeff Perigo and Friends’ is made up of a group of musicians who perform regularly across the region, including Jody Buck, Brad Fisher, Brian ‘Bam’ Furman, Scott Jeffreys, Kraig Maldet, Paul Turner, Jeff Webb and Jennifer Schrift, the North Star High School’s band director.

A choir of about a dozen singers from the area will lead the audience in singing along to a set list of American classics, including: ‘Country Roads (Take Me Home)’ by John Denver; ‘Can’t Help My Self (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)’ by The Four Tops and ‘This Land Is Your Land’ by Woody Guthrie.
