Here's what to know about early voting for the Onslow County primary elections

Early voting for the Onslow County primary elections and Jacksonville municipal election begins today, April 28. Here’s what you need to know if you plan to vote before May 17.

Where will you go to vote?

One-stop early voting will be held at five different locations.

Those planning to vote early can go to the Commons Recreation Center at 100 Recreation Lane in Jacksonville; the Swansboro Library at 1460 West Corbett Avenue in Swansboro; the Onslow County Museum at 301 S. Wilmington Street in Richlands; the Sneads Ferry Library at 1330 NC Highway 210 in Sneads Ferry; or the Onslow County Board of Elections Office at 246 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville.

Although deadlines to register have passed, early voting is considered a one-stop shop, meaning you can go to register and vote at the same time.

Early voting begins today, April 28, and will last through Saturday, May 14.

Residents can vote today and tomorrow, April 29 from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; April 30 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; May 2-6 from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; May 7 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; May 9-13 from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and May 14 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

What races will be on the ballot?

The races present on the ballot for the May 17 primary elections include: the US Senate, the US House of Representatives District 3, the NC Supreme Court Associate Justice Seat 5 Republican primary, the NC Court of Appeals Judge Seat 9 Republican primary, the NC Court of Appeals Judge Seat 11 Republican primary, and the NC House of Representatives District 14 Democratic primary.

Also on the ballot are District Attorney District 5 Republican primary, Onslow County Board of Commissioners Republican primary, Onslow County Board of Education Republican primary, and the Onslow County Sheriff Republican primary.

Onslow Board of Elections Director Jason Dedmond said just because you don't see a Democrat or a Republican on a certain ballot doesn't mean they're not running, they may have just been moved already to the November election.

The Jacksonville municipal general election will also be held, after being moved from Onslow's November municipal elections due to the need for redistricting the wards.

The race includes at-large seats, as well as seats for wards one, two, and three (unexpired).

To vote on Election Day, registered voters can vote at their designated precinct on May 17, between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Further information can be found at the Onslow County Board of Elections website, or you can call the Board of Elections at 910-455-4484.
