Here's what to know if you're traveling out of CVG for the Fourth of July weekend

According to a new study from Bounce Luggage Storage, CVG's average wait time is 18 minutes, 30 seconds.

The Fourth of July is on a Monday this year, and with the long weekend comes a busy time for summer and air travel.

This year, the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport predicts that the busy weekend will begin Thursday and last through the following Friday, June 8, with travel volumes either meeting or exceeding pre-pandemic numbers.

According to CVG, the busiest travel day will be Friday with 5-8 a.m. the busiest time for departures and 8-11 p.m. the busiest time for arrivals. Other busy days will be today and Friday, July 8.

Approximately 25% of all traffic is headed to Florida, but travelers out of CVG are also headed to Seattle, Denver, Las Vegas, New York City and Washington, D.C.

Here's what else CVG recommends for travelers anticipating a trip to the airport this weekend:

  • Arrive at the airport two hours before your scheduled departure to avoid missing your flight.

  • Download your airline app and opt-in to get flight notifications.

  • Use CVGairport.com for parking information, security wait times and concession information. CVG says the airport's facilities have changed a bit over the last year, so be sure to check for any updates before leaving home.

  • Be weather aware at departure and arrival airports, as summer thunderstorms can greatly impact flight routes. Review where your plane is coming from, and if there are any weather issues in that part of the country or world.

  • If you're planning travel this fall or winter, book as early as possible to get the best prices and flight options.
