Here's your list of Canton-area trick-or-treat times, Halloween activities for 2022

Americans go (Zag)nuts for Halloween.

The National Retail Federation estimates that people will spend $10.6 billion this year on the holiday ― everything from handing out candy to trick-or-treaters to dressing up in costumes to decorating their homes and yards. The spending is expected to top the record $10.1 billion spent last year.

“Halloween is an exciting time for many families, and that enthusiasm is reflected in the number of Americans who plan to celebrate the holiday this year,” National Retail Federation President and CEO Matthew Shay said in a prepared statement. “As consumers continue to return to pre-pandemic behaviors, retailers are prepared to meet that demand and help make this holiday a fun and memorable one.”

The group said individual consumers plan to spend $100 on average for Halloween candy, décor, cards and costumes ― that's slightly less than last year’s record of $103 and is the second highest in the survey’s history.

The National Retail Federation says it surveyed 8,283 consumers about Halloween shopping plans from Sept. 1 to 6 and the survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.1 percentage points.

Meanwhile, if you were wondering about the Buckeye State's favorite candy, it's not buckeyes. According to CandyStore.com, Ohioans' favorite candy is M&Ms, followed by Blow Pops and Starburst.
