Here's a list of Memorial Day services in Wayne and Holmes counties

Memorial Day services and parades around the area:

Sunday

Blissfield Cemetery

Memorial Day Services will be held at the Blissfield Cemetery, just off state Route 60 south of the Holmes-Coshocton County line, at 2 p.m. Marine Corps veteran Alan Artman of Millersburg will be the speaker.

Newkirk Cemetery

The Memorial Day service will be held at 9 a.m. Shreve American Legion color guard will present the colors. The speaker will be Tom Ballinger, an Army veteran who was deployed in Iraq. He is a detective with the Copley Police Department, having started his law enforcement career at the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Flags will be placed on veterans' graves.

Monday

Killbuck

Killbuck’s parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the VFW and proceeds to Killbuck Cemetery.

Glenmont

Glenmont’s parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Glenmont School Building.

Creston, Canaan Township

Services will be held at several Canaan Township cemeteries led by American Legion Post 497. At 9:30 a.m., the Legion will be at Burbank Village cemetery and at 11 a.m. it will be at the Creston Village Memorial Day parade. The parade will begin at the former grade school on South Main Street and proceed to the Maple Mound Cemetery where services will be held.

Doylestown

The Doylestown Memorial Day parade will begin 9 a.m. at Village Square.

Millersburg

American Legion Post 192 will hold a service at 8:30 a.m. at Clay Street Park to honor the grave of Peter Meyers, hero of three wars.

The parade to Oak Hill Cemetery will form at 9 a.m. at the Holmes County Courthouse. The speaker for the service will be William O’Donnell, Army Corp of Engineers.

Fryberg Cemetery and Berlin

The Millersburg American Legion Post will hold a ceremony at Fryburg Cemetery at 10:15 a.m.

At 11 a.m. the Legion will lead the parade in Berlin, William O’Donnell, U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, will be the speaker.

Sugarcreek

The Sugarcreek American Legion will begin ceremonies 7:45 a.m. at the Veterans' Memorial in Walnut Creek, followed by one at Dundee Cemetery at approximately 8:30 a.m. Sugarcreek ceremonies will be at Eastlawn Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. There will be a short ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at Union Hill Cemetery, at the grave of Homer Weiss, to honor all veterans buried there. Post 494 will then go to Ragersville Cemetery. A service will also be held in Baltic at 10:30 a.m.

Winesburg

The parade begins at 9:15 a.m. at the water tower and will travel through Winesburg to the Westlawn Cemetery where the memorial service will be held.

North Lawrence

The parade forms on Lawmont St. east of Alabama Ave. 9 a.m. Joined by the Tuslaw High School Band and Tuslaw BSA Troop 933, the parade goes north on Alabama Avenue, stopping at the North Lawrence Fire Station for a ceremony at the Memorial of Honor at 9:30 a.m. The parade will then continue to the Newman’s Creek Cemetery located behind Chapel of the Cross United Methodist Church where a memorial service will be held.
