Here's a list of the Sioux Falls restaurants that closed their doors in 2022
Even though the Sioux Falls dining scene is certainly growing, the city lost a handful of restaurants in 2022, ranging from local staples to national chains.
Here is the list of the 11 restaurants and bars that closed their doors this year.

La India Taina
The Puerto Rican restaurant, La India Taina, closed its doors at the end of January after less than a year of being open in northern Sioux Falls. The mother-daughter duo struggled with finding other staff during the workforce shortage and inflation.

Cody's Smokehouse
The popular barbecue restaurant on Louise Avenue closed abruptly near the end of January for unknown reasons. The smokehouse was owned by Joe Cody, who is also a franchise owner of Arby's and Noodles & Company. Cody was originally planning on opening additional locations.

Daylight Donuts
The longtime donut store likely closed its Sioux Falls location sometime in March, according to the business listing on Google. Daylight Donuts on South Minnesota opened in the late 1980s and became a popular hangout for students who once attended Washington High School downtown, what is now the Washington Pavilion.

Twisted Sisters Sweetz
The downtown Sioux Falls bakery closed up shop in May. Twisted Sisters Sweetz opened just before the start of the pandemic and was run by Nikki Wallenberg and her mother and sister.

Jacky's Restaurant (downtown)
Popular Guatemalan restaurant, Jacky's, closed its original downtown location in May. The restaurant at 702 E. Eighth Street was replaced by a new fast-casual restaurant, T-Juanita Street Food and Cheladas. The other three Jacky's Restaurant locations are still open.

Let Me Be Frank
The traveling hot dog cart first opened in March but announced on Facebook in July it would temporarily close to restructure its business model. No other announcements have been made since then.

Denny's
The east-side Denny's in Sioux Falls abruptly closed its doors some time around early November. The chain announced in May that over 300 of its locations had closed because of the pandemic. Now, the only Denny's in Sioux Falls is located in the Flying J Travel Center.

Miner Brewing Co. and Prairie Berry Winery Taproom
Miner Brewing Co. and Prairie Berry Winery Taproom closed in mid-November after eight years at the Western Mall. Customers can still order wines online or in-person at the original winery in Hill City, South Dakota.

Fuddruckers
The only South Dakota location closed in mid-November, following an announcement on Facebook. Fuddruckers had been doing business in Sioux Falls for 30 years and was located in Park Place Center on 41st Street. The reason behind the closure hasn't been disclosed.

Watecha Bowl
While not closed yet, owner Lawrence West is looking to close Watecha Bowl's physical location by the end of 2022 but will continue doing business with the Watecha Bowl food truck.
BB's Pub N Grill
BB's Pub N Grill also announced on Facebook that it will close its 3400 W. 49th Street location on Dec. 31. The business plans to relocate to a temporary location, called Credo's Pub, while building a new bar and liquor store.
