Here's a list of what stores will be open, closed on Thanksgiving Day in the Rockford area
If Thanksgiving Day arrives and you are still in need of a turkey and all the fixings or a dish to pass, you may be in luck as a few grocery stores will be open.
But if you're hoping to start your Black Friday shopping a day early, your options will be much more limited these days.
In the years leading up to the coronavirus pandemic, it wasn't uncommon to see some major retailers launching Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving. Opening doors early Friday became midnight, which became Thursday night, which became Thursday afternoon and in some cases all day Thursday.
Now, two years post COVID-19, many retailers have gone back to being closed on Thanksgiving Day.
If you really need to find a store that is open on Thanksgiving, check out the list below of stores that plan to be closed and open. It's a good idea to call for local store hours.
