Here's how much Hope Mills pays town employees

While the town of Hope Mills will pay out $6.8 million in base pay to its employees this year, town employees make an average of $49,558, according to the town record.

Of the town’s 138 employees, two people are tied for the spot of top earner — Finance Director Richard Holland and Interim Town Manager Chancer McLaughlin, who also continues to serve as the town’s director of development services. Holland and McLaughlin each earn $107,625, the town record shows.

Nearly 58% of the town’s employees earn between $25,000 and $50,000, while 28.3% earn between $51,000 and $75,000. Only two employees in the town with a population of 17,824 earn more than $100,000, while the only six who earn less than $25,000 are members of the Board of Commissioners.

The town's top earners

After McLaughlin and Holland, Police Chief Stephen Dollinger earns the highest pay at $99,079, according to the town record. Parks and Recreation Director Lamarco Morrison earns $95,910, while Human Resources Director Leesa Jensen earns $95,000.

Police pay

After Dollinger, Deputy Police Chief Bradley Dean earns the highest pay in the Police Department at $77,551, town record shows. The highest-paid positions after deputy chief are two police captains, with Capt. Lee Sumners earning $68,977 and Capt. Bradley Rountree earning $65,000.

The department’s 26 police officers make between $40,915 and $50,328, according to the town record.

Outside of the top earners, salaries throughout the department range from $39,110 to $58,801.

Fire pay

Fire Chief Lopez and Deputy Fire Chief Matthew Cain are the top two earners in the Fire Department, with Cain earning $78,000, the town record shows.

Lt. Jeffrey Hill earns $59,002, while Fire Marshal Robert Carter receives $58,513.

Hope Mills firefighters make between $38,382 and $48,406, according to the town record.

Excluding its top earners, salaries in the department range from $38,382 to $54,616.

Parks and recreation

After Morrison and Dove, the highest-paid Parks and Recreation employee is Program/Events Director Meghan Hawkins, who earns $66,564. Parks Maintenance Supervisor Keith Bryant receives $55,000, according to the town record.

Excluding the top earners, salaries within the department are between $45,487 and $52,810, the record shows.

Board of Commissioners

Mayor Jackie Warner gets the highest pay on the board at $11,159, while Mayor Pro Tem Kenjuana McCray earns $8,173, according to the town record.

Commissioners Jerry Legge, Bryan Marley, Grilley Mitchell and Joanne Scarola each receive $7,959, the record shows.
