Here's who is running for Aug. 4 Maury County General Election
The Maury County Aug. 4 General Election is fast approaching and Thursday marked the final day for candidates to register to appear on the ballot.
The Maury County Election Commission has confirmed a list of qualifying candidates for the County General Election and state primary.
In the coming months, races for local school board, county commission, county mayor and state representative will serve as the center point for the upcoming election.
Voters will have a choice of four experienced conservative leaders for county mayor, likely one of the most-watched races of the cycle, including county Republican Party nominee and incumbent Andy Ogles; and Independents Santa Fe native David Baker, life coach, educator and author; former state Rep. Sheila Butt, R-Columbia, who represented the 64th District, and past county mayor Charlie Norman, who served one term.

The community will also see a major transition of leadership on the county commission with just several incumbents seeking reelection.
The commission faces several major challenges ahead, including mounting pressure to increase property taxes as the local government works to keep up with a wave of exceptional growth throughout southern Middle Tennessee.
Odd-numbered school board seats are also up for reelection.
Please note the newly-released lists only include candidates who registered with the election office in Maury County. Some candidates for state roles may be omitted from the list.
