As the weather grows colder and the days get shorter, it can be easy not to want to leave the house. But a wide range of holiday festivities in the Appleton area offer chances to gather with friends and neighbors and enjoy the season.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many events have protocols in place to help mitigate the spread, including encouraging or requiring guests to wear masks.

The following are just some of the bigger holiday events in the Fox Cities:

Fox Cities Festival of Lights: Friday to Sunday, Nov. 26 to Dec. 26, 5 to 9 p.m.,

Darboy Community Park, N9334 Noe Road, Appleton

The Fox Cities Festival of Lights is a family friendly walk-through light display.

Hours are weather-dependent, so if a cancelation needs to be made, check the “Fox Cities Festival of Lights” on Facebook.

Most of the displays are in the wooded area on trails, so boots are suggested. Pets are not allowed in the park. Parking is available at Sunrise Elementary School with handicap parking in the lot by the park shelter.

Victorian Christmas at Hearthstone: Select dates, Hearthstone Historic House Museum, 625 W. Prospect Ave., Appleton

Hearthstone Historic House Museum invites guests to step back in time and experience a home decked with Victorian-era ornate Christmas decorations.

The museum is offering two tours: Victorian Christmas: The Holly and the Ivy, which will be in the evenings Fridays and Saturdays Nov. 27 to Dec. 18, as well as Thursdays Dec. 23 and Dec. 30; and Victorian Christmas Traditions: How the Victorians Created the Holiday as it is Celebrated Today, which takes place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. during select Fridays and Saturdays in December.

For both events, tickets are $15 for each adult and $5 for each child attending with an adult and can be purchased online at the museum's website.

The museum strongly encourages all guests to wear masks during each of the tours.

Holiday Art Market: Saturday, Dec. 18, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Appleton Beer Factory, 603 W. College Ave., Appleton

Hosted by the Appleton Beer Factory and Artful Endeavors, the Holiday Art Market will provide a chance to support local artists and those 21 and older to enjoy some day drinking.
