Here's how to support Springfield's small businesses while holiday shopping

If you've been procrastinating, there is no better way to start shopping for the holidays than the weekend after Thanksgiving. Starting with Black Friday through Small Business Saturday and onto Cyber Monday, the weekend is full of local deals to get the most for your buck. Shopping at locally-owned small businesses is a way to give back to the community and support local artists and entrepreneurs. Here are a few of the deals shoppers can take advantage of at Springfield stores and shops this Small Business Saturday.

Downtown

Bookmarx, a downtown used and new book retailer and home to this year's Captain Springfield, Googey the cat, will have 20% off storewide on all used and new books on Small Business Saturday. Anyone who spends more than $50 will also receive a free tote bag. For Cyber Monday, the website will include sales on shirts, tote bags and gift certificates.

SOAP Refill Station will offer a free bath bomb with every in-store e-gift card purchase starting on Small Business Saturday. The store will also offer special orders for bulk custom bath bombs and lotion bar orders that make a great inexpensive gift to teachers and coworkers.

417 Cocktails will have in-store specials on Small Business Saturday on cocktail kits, glassware, gift sets and other products. The first 20 guests to make a purchase will receive a free mini cocktail kit. Those who spend $100 on gift cards will receive a bonus $10 certificate. Sips and samples will be offered throughout the day. On Black Friday, online customers will be able to enjoy a "Fire & Ice" sale with specials on cocktail smoking kits, accessories and ice molds. On Cyber Monday, however, the store will offer $5 off all cocktail kits and 10% off all bitters and syrups.

Pagination Bookshop will be open their usual hours 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Small Business Saturday and feature a variety of promotions for their customers. Those spending $100 or more will receive a free Pagination T-shirt while supplies last. New Pagination logo mugs will be 15% off while all box sets will be 10% off. Each customer who shops in person on Saturday can enter for free into a raffle for a $50 Pagination gift card. Throughout the entire holiday season, the bookshop offers free gift wrapping for in-store purchases. Pagination will also offer Cyber Monday deals. Those choosing to do their shopping online can receive 15% off all online orders on Monday using the code BOOK15.

Commercial Street

Soozeezbeez offers a variety of honey and bee-related gifts and products. Starting on Friday and through the weekend, Soozeezbeez will be giving away a beeswax lip balm with every $30 purchase and double punches on the infused honey rewards card. The store will also host a giveaway drawing for a Soozeezbeez gift basket valued at $75.

Askinosie Chocolate will offer a special peek behind-the-scenes of the chocolate making process throughout the holiday season starting with Small Business Saturday. Two tours led by founder and CEO Shawn Askinosie will take place Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and include chocolate tastings. The tours must be booked in advance and cost $8 per person. After the tour, visitors will receive a 10% discount on storefront products.

J. L. Long Traders customers will be able to enjoy 15% off on Small Business Saturday, excluding Bauble Stockings and furniture. In addition, those spending $10 or more will receive a free J. L. Long Traders camping mug.

Chabom Teas + Spices is treating customers to a whole weekend of specials. Starting Friday and running through Sunday, shoppers will receive a free goody bag with purchases over $45 and a free coupon book with purchases over $100. Additionally, to fill any size gift box, customers will receive 20% off teas and spices and a free taster big when purchasing a tea set. As the owners also manage Cafe Cusco and Van Gogh's Eeterie, the two businesses will also include 20% off gift card sales.

Elsewhere in Springfield

The Plant Room, 1349 S. Glenstone Ave., will have promotions spread over the entire weekend. Starting with Black Friday, all plants will be 30% off. On Small Business Saturday, those spending $25 or more will receive a free plant parent mug while supplies last. Those shopping online on Cyber Monday will be able to enjoy 20% off all plants and free local delivery.

Culture Flock, 607 S. Pickwick Ave. Suite A, is celebrating the shopping holiday weekend starting Wednesday through Saturday. Customers both in-store and online will receive 10% off storewide and 20% off all Culture Flock apparel.

Sew Bueno Company, a local business selling a variety of cycling and lifestyle bags, will include both online and in-person sales. From Black Friday through Cyber Monday, the company's website will include expedited processing and free priority shipping. On Small Business Saturday, the business will be set up at the Farmers Market of the Ozarks 417 Craft Crawl from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Those buying two or more items from Sew Bueno at the event will receive 15% off the entire order.

Polish Pottery Shoppe, 2802 E. Battlefield Road, will offer 20% off holiday shapes and pottery made by Zaklady Ceramiczne. The promotion will be ongoing Friday and Saturday in person and Friday through Sunday online with the code 2023Black. The Shoppe also has an online gift guide to help customers find what they are looking for.

The Normal Brand, an apparel brand for lifestyle and outdoors from St. Louis at the Battlefield Mall will include up to 50% off deals. The store will be open 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and include coffee and refreshments from 8 a.m. to noon.

The Local Bevy, 617 S. Pickwick Ave., will not be doing a store-wide sale but individual artists may choose to do so. The store will offer free gift wrapping during Small Business Saturday and give away a free gift with every $100 purchase.

Anvil Customs will be doing a Springfield Locals Only Sale with 25% off the entire website over the weekend.
