Here's your ticket to an evening of Zen on the South Shore

HINGHAM − South Shore residents are invited to gather at the top of Planter's Hill at World's End as the summer equinox draws closer and relax, become grounded in their senses and get in touch with their inner selves.

The Trustees of Reservations is holding a wellness retreat there June 10 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The rain date is June 11. The cost for a member carload is $80 and $100 for a nonmember carload, to encourage carpooling.

The retreat is appropriate for everyone over the age of 15, The Trustees said.

The event is described as "an evening of mindful community" and "connection, clarity and renewal." Limited-size groups will be doing yoga, sound healing, drumming, art journaling and guided meditation with instructors until the sun has set.

Holistic health practitioners will lead the activities. There will also be healing-arts vendors and local wellness practitioners.

“We are excited to be part of such an integrative experience,” says Lori Fitzpatrick, of Healing Vibrations, who will be leading four other practitioners (Mike Balonis, Lauren Folan, Lauren Aloha and Mandy Goldman) in a nature-based “sound bath” at the top of Planter’s Hill.

They will use Himalayan metals, gongs, crystal tools and indigenous shamanic sound to create an immersion effect.

"World’s End is such a special spiritual place for me, personally," Fitzpatrick said. "I totally resonate with the land there and I’m looking forward to working with the other practitioners."

Participants will be able to connect with vendors, meet local practitioners, rebalance with acupuncture or cupping, and grab a bite to eat. Dinner will be available at The Juice Bar Norwood and Independent Fermentations. The Canyon Ranch Resort and Spa will offer snacks and chair massage sessions.

The first 200 guests to share their email addresses will receive a $250 gift card toward a stay at one of the Canyon Ranch properties.

The program will begin with a drum circle at 5 p.m. Two 45-minute program sessions then will be held at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Participants can choose from these mindful practices:

  • Heart & Soul Yoga: This class opens with slow-paced movements, in sync with the breath, to experience strength in the body and clarity of the mind.

  • Sound Bath: Five sound healing practitioners integrate the tranquil tones of Himalayan metals, crystal bowls and earth vibrations.

  • Mindful Hike: a restorative walk long the grassy paths of the second drumlin.

  • Guided Art Journaling: Participants will be asked to respond to mindfulness prompts through sketching and writing and to bring their own journals if they have one.

  • Nature Meditation: The goal is to connect deeply with the surrounding natural beauty.

At 8 p.m. there will be a guided half-hour sunset meditation.

There will be parking in a field with a quarter-mile walk to the top of the hill.
