Here's where to buy Fourth of July fireworks this year in Topeka and Shawnee County

Fireworks buffs will have 12 buildings and 38 tents from which to make purchases beginning later this month in Shawnee County, including the city of Topeka.

The total number of licenses to peddle pyrotechnics issued by the governments of Topeka and Shawnee County fell to 50 this year, from 51 last year.

Listings of those licensees and locations were provided this past week to The Topeka Capital-Journal by Shawnee County planning director Joni Thadani and Topeka city clerk Brenda Younger.

When can I buy fireworks in the Topeka area? When can I shoot them?

In Topeka, fireworks are allowed to be sold from June 29 through July 4.

But fireworks may be discharged within the city limits only from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 3 and 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on July 4, according to a video posted June 15 on Facebook by Topeka's city government.

In unincorporated parts of Shawnee County outside Topeka, fireworks may be sold from June 27 to July 5, and discharged from 8 a.m. to midnight from June 27 to July 4.
