Here's where children can get free meals this summer at Tuscaloosa schools

Free meals are now available for children 18 years old and younger through the Tuscaloosa city and county school systems.

The meal programs began during the first week of June and will continue weekdays into July at school cafeterias in both systems.

The Tuscaloosa County School System will offer breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. until noon through July 15. Meals will not be served on July 4, which falls on a Monday.

The meals are available at:

• Brookwood High School, 12250 George Richmond Parkway

• Hillcrest Middle School, 401 Hillcrest School Road

• Holt High School, 301 44th Court NE

• Sipsey Valley High School, 15815 Romulus Road in Buhl

• Tuscaloosa County High School, 12500 Wildcat Drive in Northport.

In addition to those five locations, the Walker Elementary cafeteria will be open during the same dates, serving no-cost meals to students who attend Walker Elementary, Northside Middle and Northside High. Walker Elementary is at 13051 Northside Road in Northport.

Students do not have to be enrolled in a summer program to have a meal at Walker, but they must be a student of one of those schools.

Tuscaloosa City Schools

The Tuscaloosa City Schools'  Summer Food Service Program will serve breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:30 a.m. until noon at 14 different schools.

The free meals are available to children 18 years old and younger. Meals must be eaten on site, with no to-go or bulk meals available.

• Central Elementary, 1510 Dinah Washington Ave., through July 1

• The Alberta School of Performing Arts, 2700 University Blvd. E, through July 29

• Central High, 905 15th St., through July 29

• Eastwood Middle, 6314 Mary Harmon Bryant Drive in Cottondale, through July 1

• Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, 2430 Martin Luther King Blvd., through July 29

• Oakdale Elementary, 5001 25th St. , through July 1

• Paul Bryant High, 6315 Mary Harmon Bryant Drive in Cottondale, through July 1

• Skyland Elementary, 408 Skyland E Blvd., through July 1

• Southview Elementary, 2601 Southview Drive,, through July 1

• Tuscaloosa Magnet School, 315 McFarland Blvd. E, through July 1

• University Place Elementary, 2000 First Ave., through July 1

• Westlawn Middle, 1715 Martin Luther King Blvd., through July 29

• Woodland Forrest Elementary, 6001 Hargrove Road E, through July 1
