Fort Collins philanthropist Pat Stryker is among the world's 1,000 richest people, according to Forbes' magazine's 2023 list of billionaires.

Stryker, founder of the nonprofit Bohemian Foundation and for-profit real estate arm Bohemian Cos., is estimated to be worth $3.2 billion as of April 4, which lands her at 905 on the list of the world's 2,640 billionaires. Her estimated worth is down from $3.4 billion in 2021 but well over her estimated $2.5 billion in 2020.

Stryker was listed at No. 388 on Forbes' list of 400 richest Americans last year.

She is the granddaughter of the founder of Stryker Corp., a medical equipment manufacturer that sold $14.4 billion worth of medical equipment in 2020, according to Forbes.

Stryker, through her foundation, has been a staunch supporter of community interests, social causes and Democratic political candidates, and has invested in advancement of music and nonprofits in Fort Collins, as evidenced by The Music District, The Armory, Washington's and the former Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest music festival, which was discontinued during the pandemic.

In 2016, she and her brother, Jon, donated $10 million to fund a national lynching memorial in Montgomery, Alabama, the heart of the civil rights movement.

The donations of $5 million each helped create The Memorial to Peace and Justice, which remembers 4,000 victims of lynchings throughout the U.S., and a racial justice museum called From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration. The memorial and museum are initiatives of the Equal Justice Initiative, a nonprofit that that provides lawyers to people who have been illegally convicted, unfairly sentenced or abused in state jails and prisons.

In addition to owning several parcels of land throughout the city, mostly centered around downtown, Stryker owns two sites slated for Powerhouse II at the corner of Vine Drive and North College Avenue that will focus on climate solutions. It is an expansion of Colorado State University's Powerhouse Energy Lab at 430 N. College Ave. She also owns 1311 N. College Ave., which she plans to donate to Fort Collins Rescue Mission for a new 24/7 shelter for up to 200 men experiencing homelessness.

The Bohemian Foundation also donated $6 million to CSU to create a presidential chair in energy innovation named after CSU professor Bryan Willson, who directs CSU's Powerhouse Energy Campus and CSU Energy Institute.

In December, more than than 40 organizations received Bohemian Fund grants totaling $620,000.
