  • Date: Aug. 5, 3-5 p.m.

  • Location: Justice B Beauty Salon, 120 Mendel Parkway, Montgomery. Last year’s bash was indoors only. This time around, they plan some outdoor fun as well.

  • Info: Montgomery music artists Justice Bush (Justice B) and “American Idol” finalist Lady K are teaming up again to help girls get their hair right before school starts back with the 2nd annual Back To School Beauty Bash. this is for kids grades K-12. Bush said they’ll do drawings for hair services and have beauty supply giveaways. “We have other stylists and other beauty professionals who are going to be giving away services as well,” Bush said.

  • Drawings: For one lucky girl, Bush said she wants to do the student’s hair every four weeks for about six months. For drawing winners, Bush said 10 to 15 girls will get together with stylists and pick a date and time before school starts to get their hair done.

  • School supply giveaways for girls and boys: While the hair and beauty are for girls, parents should bring boys to the bash as well. “We’ll also be giving away supplies that are not just for girls,” Bush said. “We’ll be giving away school supplies for as long as we can, and we’ll also have food for as long as we can as well.”

  • Entertainment: Yes, there will be music. Bush said they’ll have a DJ, but there could be much more. “Lady K and I are thinking about doing something,” Bush said. “But we’re also talking to some other special guests who are going to be coming as well. We might have some surprises up our sleeve.”

  • Get involved: To keep the school supplies flowing as long as possible, the salon is currently accepting school item donations. If any other beauty professionals or stylists would like to join the bash by donating services or supplies, they can call 334-224-6319 or email her at justicebbeauty@gmail.com.

  • Hair care tips: Adding extensions are fun, but Bush said to first take care of a girl’s natural hair. “I believe that before girls go back to school, they should do a very good treatment on their natural hair. Get maybe a shampoo, blow dry, treatment and a trim,” Bush said. “Making sure they’re doing what needs to be done for their hair to grow and flourish.” Then keep hair healthy with steady care from someone they trust to style it on a regular basis. “Get on a routine. Find something that works and stay consistent with it,” Bush said.
