Here's where to find Lenten fish fries in Tuscarawas County this year

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY ‒ With the beginning of Lent, churches and other organizations in Tuscarawas County will be offering fish fries on Fridays during February and March.

Here are details on local fish fries:

  • SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH. The church will host the dinners at the Sacred Heart Parish Center, 320 Third St. NE, New Philadelphia, from 4 to 7 p.m. from Feb. 16 to March 22. Patrons may dine in or get carryout. Dinners include fish (choice of baked, fried or lemon pepper), potatoes (choice of French fries or garlic roasted), hush puppies, coleslaw, applesauce or macaroni and cheese, bread and butter, dessert and ala carte items of cheese pizza and macaroni and cheese, $2 each. Dinners are $12 for regular and $15 for large.

  • HOLY TRINITY KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS 13081. Meals will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. from Feb. 16 to March 22 at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 1835 Dover-Zoar Road NE, Bolivar. Meals for adults include a two-piece fried or one-piece baked dinner for $10 and a four-piece fried or two-piece baked dinner for $13. Children under 12 can order a one-piece fried dinner or plate of macaroni and cheese with one side for $6. Dinners include hush puppies, choice of French fries, rice pilaf or macaroni and cheese, roll, coleslaw and juice or coffee (soda pop is $1 extra). Desserts are also separate, ranging from $2 to $3. Patrons can dine-in or go through the drive-thru line. Proceeds go for such things as monthly lunches for 40 people at the local Salvation Army, Bolivar Food Pantry, Bolivar Fire Department for smoke alarms, Community Hospice; Fisher House veterans' home, TV Strong Trojan Foundation and community Thanksgiving dinner.

  • FRIENDS SERVING OTHERS. Dinners will be served at Memorial Hall, 410 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, from 5 to 7 p.m. from Feb. 16 through March 22. The menu includes fried fish, boneless wings, sides, desserts and beverage. Carryout is available. Cost is $15 for all you care to eat, $10 for a three-piece fish dinner and all sides and $5 for a meal for kids 10 and under. Proceeds benefit projects including food, medical, funeral and Christmas assistance for local families, youth mission trips, Share A Christmas, Sole Purpose and Jehovah Jireh Orphanage project.
